|G. Darrell Olson
Darrell's interest in jewelry and travel began in 1935, when at the age of five he began traveling occasionally with his father George L. Olson, who was a partner and inter-mountain salesman for a wholesale jewelry company in Salt Lake City, Utah. After the tragic death of his father, who was robbed and murdered by a jeweler client, Darrell's interest in jewelry ended until 1943 when he was offered a part-time job as a shipping clerk in his father's old company. He eventually became a salesman, covering the same territory as his father had. Seven years later he was offered a management position in a retail jewelry store in Phoenix, Arizona. He became a partner in the store and expanded the business, opening four additional stores. In 1970, a childhood dream came true when he opened a 4,000 square foot store of his own on Central Avenue in Phoenix. In 1976 a move was made to a new location on Camelback Road. In 2011 due to the demolition of that location which we occupied for thirty-six years, Jewels and Estate Gallery moved just two blocks east to our beautiful new location at 1846 East Camelback Road.
